fail.

I got a rejection letter in the mail the other day. That in itself is no surprise, seeing as how I sent lots of copies of "Peas" and "Climbing Trees" out. The fun part of this anecdote is that I got it back eight days after I sent it.

That's a swift and unanimous "no" from the editorial staff, for anyone who's counting.

Although rejection can be hard, hearing back so quick is actually kind of nice! When it comes to publishing in peer reviewed philosophy journals, it often takes 6-8 months to even get rejected! And if you get accepted it usually involves revisions, and won't end up being published until over a year after the initial submission. Absurd.

Good luck though! I once heard even more established academics get about 4 rejections for each acceptance, so you have to figure every rejection is one step closer to publication!

6-8 months is crazy! And with all the revision... ugh, it shouldn't take that long.

It's true, rejection is not that bad. It definitely sheds light on how to revise and which journals like which sorts of stories.

Good luck to you too!:)
